Introduction

ONELOX supports all regular types of Inventory to provide a detailed representation of your Warehouses’ stocks.
Not all Fulfillers provide fully detailed Inventory information.
Many decide to return reduced basic data, usually just the total quantity available.

Basics

Inventory states

Inventory may be in one of the following states:
  • Stored: The default state. Stored Inventory is available to be shipped
  • Approved: Approved Inventory has been booked, usually after a new Warehouse delivery has been received, but is not yet stored and thus not available to be shipped
  • Blocked: The Inventory has been blocked, e.g. for quality control or recounting. Blocked Inventory is not available to be shipped

Inventory types

Inventory may be of one of the following types:
  • A: The default type. A-class Inventory is regular stock to be used
  • B: B-class Inventory contains Products with minimal flaws that may still be sold and shipped
  • C: C-class Inventory contains Products with apparent flaws, e.g. production defects or used and returned items
  • R: R-class Inventory contains returned items that have not yet been checked or cannot be sold again.
This type is usually used in conjunction with the Blocked state

Inventory shelves

Inventory may be booked into a specified shelf.
One Product (SKU) may be stocked on multiple shelves, and one shelf may contain multiple Products.
However, one Product can only be stored on a single shelf once. Each Product batch must thus be stored on a separate shelf.
This also applies to Inventory without any shelf information at all. A single Product cannot be stored in multiple Inventories without shelves.

Inventory batches

Inventory may contain batch information.
Each batch for a single Product must be stored on a separate shelf.

Inventory sell by dates

Inventory may contain a sell by date (also known as “shelf life” or “best before date”). This should always be combined with batch information. Each sell by date/batch for a single Product must be stored on a separate shelf.

Inventory and its representation in different Data Source systems

Depending on the Data Source system used, ONELOX integrations will transfer Inventory in the best way possible.
While ERP systems usually allow detailed information including batches and sell by dates, most e-commerce tools like shop systems can only handle an aggregated total stock.
ONELOX will handle these differences gracefully, synchronizing accepted data to the Data Source systems while keeping the full representation internally.
